How to Use Essential Oils to Promote Hair Growth?

Everything around us impacts the health and beauty of our hair. From how often we wash it, to the pollutants it contains, our hair is constantly under attack. While some people simply accept hair loss and brittle hair as just a part of life, others find that essential oils can do quite a bit for them. These oils can reduce the negative impact of the environment and help to restore beautiful hair, that grows faster and fuller than ever before.

One thing to note about essential oils is that they should never be applied directly to the hair or scalp without a carrier oil. This carrier oil helps to reduce the potency of the essential oil so that it is safe for application to the hair follicles. The most commonly used carrier oils are jojoba oil and coconut oil. If your skin is sensitive to these, a floral water, or alcohol base can be used.

Since different oils also have different applications, we will look at each of the essential oils for hair growth, and touch on how to use it.

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender is one of the most popular essential oils. While people often associate it with relaxation, and stress reduction, it is also exceptional for the hair. A soothing oil, you can use it on the scalp to boost circulation of the blood, while promoting hair growth and reducing overall hair loss. As an added bonus, it has anti fungal and anti bacterial properties to make it an excellent choice for those with scalp conditions. The best way to use this essential oil it to take 10 drops of it and mix it with 2 tablespoons of your favorite carrier oil. Then rub it into the scalp each night before bed. The soothing scent will help you to sleep and will help to improve the health of your hair before the morning.

Chamomile Essential Oil

This essential oil can help to reduce inflammation of the scalp, combat itchy and scaly skin, while also protecting hair from environmental damage. Those who have conditions like psoriasis and dermatitis will find that this oil is highly effective for reliving their condition. It’s a simple as adding four drops of the oil to 2 tablespoons of carrier oil. Then comb it into your hair before you begin your day and it will give a non greasy shine to the hair that is light, and airy.

Cedarwood Essential Oil

Ideal for those who are suffering from hair loss, cedar oil can stimulate the follicles of the hair. It boosts blood circulation and will promote positive hair growth with regular use. It also helps with control the sebaceous glands, so your hair can become more balanced and deliver a healthy shine. Because of the intensity of the scent, it is ideal to use 4 drops with 2 tablespoons of oil a few hours before you head out in public. After two hours, you can rinse it out as normal so you have a light woodsy scent to your hair, without it becoming overwhelming in an office.

Clary Sage Essential Oil

With regular use, Clary Sage essential oil can help with hair growth. Take 10 drops of the oil and mix it in with a tablespoon of carrier oil. You then massage it into the scalp and wait 30 minutes. You can wash your hair as you normally would with a mild shampoo and rinse.

With the right essential oils you can help to improve the health of your hair, and to promote hair growth at the same time. Consider these incredible options and find pure high quality essential oils that will truly deliver results.

3 Essential Oil Recipes that Help Keep Aging Skin Looking Fantastic

The sheer number of anti-aging products that the skin care market has to offer is staggering. While having so many options is a wonderful thing, it can often leave consumers feeling unsure confused about which products actually work. All too often these products don’t produce the promised results.

Rather than wasting time sifting through products that may or may not work, why not turn to the products that women have been using since the beginning of time – plant extracts. Nothing is quite as potent or effective as ingredients that come straight from nature’s bounty and women throughout the ages have been using plant extracts to fight the effects that time can have on skin. Essential oils are powerful plant based tools and are free of the chemical additives found in man-made anti-aging products.

These essential oils are counted among the best for skin care use not only because of their anti-aging properties, but also their amazing overall beautifying effects.

Step 1: Choose A Carrier Oil

Because of their potency, applying essential oils directly to the skin is not recommended without the use of a carrier oil for a base. Carrier oils are generally gentle oils that are simply used to dilute the essential oils before application. As a rule, the carrier oil should be a neutral oil that is able to be spread thinly for even application as well as reducing the potency of the essential oils that you have added to it. Some excellent carrier oils are:

  • Coconut oil
  • Sweet almond oil
  • Apricot kernel oil
  • Avocado oil
  • Rose hip seed oil
  • Argan oil

These oils alone are all healing, hydrating, and suitable for sensitive skin. The work wonderfully by themselves, but for more noticeable results they can be combined with certain essential oils that can make them even more effective.

Step 2: Choose the Right Essential Oil

It has a long history of use as incense, perfume, and medicine in the Middle East and Africa and has been proven to help wounds heal faster. Myrrh is loaded with anti-oxidants which have been proven to help reverse the signs of aging that are associated with damage caused by free radicals.

Step 3: Combine and Apply Daily

Place 2 Tablespoons of the carrier oil of your choice in a small, glass vessel. Add 5 to 7 drops of the essential oil that you wish to use or any combination of the three (no more than 5 to 7 total drops of essential oil). Seal the vessel and shake to mix. Apply a small amount of the mixture (about dime sized) to your skin each night before bedtime after a thorough cleansing. Repeat each day.
